MAKING
CONNECTIONS
The Net is the internet coffee house in Naknek,
AK. It is a place where coffee is free and people
from all over the world hear about the free gift of
salvation.
“What is the ministry of The Net? It’s a sanctuary in
a sea of chaos and unrest. It’s a place where
strangers are treated like family. One young woman
walking in breathed deeply, “This place smells like
love.” Our table is laid with fresh coffee, hot cocoa,
lemonade, water, iced tea and platters of fresh baked
goods and a basket of packaged snacks and candies.
A few tables with chairs, a well worn couch and
coffee table invite guests to stay awhile. The walls
hold bookshelves with Bibles, devotionals and
Scripture tracts to feed the mind and nurture the
soul. Board games and puzzles are stacked on an
end table, and used clothing is piled on a table in the
back room.
Everything is free. Sometimes people would come to
the kitchen asking where the donation basket is. We
would tell them it’s all a free gift to anyone who
comes, just like God freely gives salvation to those
who come to Him through Christ. We also told them
that the food comes from our church family and
friends down in the lower 48 who care for them and
the difficulty of life during this season.“

Naknek Alaska Mission Project 2023
This year the women have been busy once again. This group is so diligent each and every week coming to the church and sewing these blankets. And each year they along with other donations of clothing and food supplies are packed into a tote, delivered to Seattle and put on a boat headed to Naknek Alaska and the Mission work there where people come from all over the world to fish. Here is a link showing the work. The Net – AFLC Home Missions Thanks to all the hard-working ladies and volunteers to make this happen.

Alaska Mission Projet 2022,
Our Sewing Ministry makes approximately 50 quilts and blankets a year. These items and more are taken by boat to missionaries in Alaska who serve local populations as well as American and international seasonal workers.
This ministry meets weekly on Thursdays. Lunch is provided and so are sewing supplies. All sewing skill levels are welcome.
Quilt dedication

This dedicated group of sewing ladies with the help of many, packed a tote headed to Naknek AK. In this tote they put approximately 100 quilts and blankets that were hand sewn, cooking, paper products and some clothes that will be used in the Net Shed outreach mission there in Naknek. Those at the mission will distribute these quilts to those in remote villages in need and share God’s word.
These quilts were prayed over by Pastor Richard Gunderson to bless them and to ask God to go with them and be a ministry to people when handed out. See video above.
UPDATE: The tote that was sent to Naknek AK arrived in good order. The people receiving it shared a few photos of items being unloaded.
